KC WildLands
Kansas City WildLands implemented a Missouri Bird Conservation Initiative Project. The project was designed to restore native habitat for birds and other wildlife in the urban bottomland forest along the Blue River. A large component of the restoration effort is directed toward the large-scale eradication of bush honeysuckle (Lonicera Maackii). An 85-acre section of bottomland forest - located in Kansas City, Missouri, along the Blue River - was identified as the focus for restoration efforts.
