Adaptive Wins Mitigation Monitoring Project for KCP&L
Iatan 2, a coal-fired generation facility operated by KCP&L, is currently under construction on the Missouri River near Weston, Missouri. Adaptive Ecosystems developed a comprehensive Mitigation Plan to mitigate for impacts to the area currently known as Welson Slough. The plan was approved by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and calls for a monitoring program to measure the success criteria established in the approved Section 404 Permit. KCP&L chose Adaptive Ecosystems to provide construction oversight and to conduct biological monitoring activities of the site for the next five years. Upon completion of the project, Compliance Certification will be submitted to the Kansas City District of the USACE, which has authority for Section 404 activities.
