Mitigation Habitat/Restoration Plans

Coordination with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks was required for a roadway project in Miami County, Kansas. This roadway project required mitigation for impacts to critical habitat of the Broadhead Skink (picture above).

The staff of Adaptive Ecosystems can quantify compensatory credits to offset the project impacts, and propose appropriate compensation. We take it further with the ability to implement and monitor the construction of the compensation habitat to ensure it complies with agency permit terms and conditions.

Regulatory agencies require "No Net Loss" of protected habitat and usually require compensatory habitat to be preserved or created to offset project impacts. Whether or not your project has regulatory requirements, Adaptive Ecosystems, Inc. takes an ecological approach. We determine site potential and influencing natural forces and weigh these against project goals and mitigation requirements. For Corps mitigation sites, our goal is to create a plan with predictable, measurable success criteria. For non-regulatory restoration projects, we maximize ecological benefits while meeting other project outcomes such as recreation, education, stormwater management and other concerns.
